As one of the oldest cities, Cartagena Colombia has always been one of the most frequently visited spots in the country. The city is positioned on the northern coast of Colombia and has been a popular seaport for centuries. With more than 1.2 million residents, the area is considered the fifth largest city in Colombia. Water is located around the city in many directions. To the west, you’ll find the Caribbean Sea but to the south is the Cartagena Bay which feeds into the Pacific Ocean.
Because the entire city of Cartagena is a tourist attraction, your best choice for exploration is simply walking around. Of course, you can choose to travel by taxis but you always wanted to settle on a fare before riding anywhere with the driver. Otherwise, you could end up paying more than you expected. Chariots are a good choice if you are traveling around the old town. However, if you want to reach other parts of the area, such as the San Felipe fort or the Islas del Rosario, you may want to take a bus or a boat, respectively.
With a beautiful beach nearby, you should consider spending some time enjoying the sun and the sea. One of the best beaches to visit is the Playa Blanca which can be reached by ferry, car, or Sunday bus. The main historic pat of Cartagena is known as Old Town and is surrounded by the protective city wall. Visitors can explore the area via the Clock Tower Building.
