Enjoy Colombia's Multipe Events

Enjoying Colombia involves plenty of activities, including shopping and exploring all the country has to offer. Sometimes that includes enjoying events held in the country. Throughout its cities, you’ll find some of the most exciting and fun events, including sports in Colombia and concerts in Colombia.

Events in Bogota

As the capital of Colombia, this city is going to be one of the most popular destinations for performers traveling through South America. The city is also going to provide the most diversity in terms of cultural, musical, and theatrical performances. If you’re visiting and wanting to attend concerts in Colombia, you should look for major acts (such as Maroon 5) to be playing at the sports arena known as Coliseo Cubierto El Campín which can hold up to 25,000 people. Normally, the stadium is a great place to watch basketball or other sports in Colombia. For other types of concerts, you might want to stroll through Parque Jaime Duque which is a large park full of things to see and do (including a recreation of the Taj Mahal) but is also a common location for smaller concerts.

Events in Cartagena

If you’re hoping to see theatre in Colombia, head to Cartagena. The city is one of the best locations for these cultural activities because performing arts are an important part of the city. You can visit the Heredia Theatre which has become the center of arts in Cartagena. Concerts and theatrical productions are often performed here. You may also want to look at what is available at the Cartagena de Indias Convention Center which is the largest in the country. The main auditorium holds more than 19,000 people but other smaller rooms can be used for concerts and even boxing. Every September, you can enjoy European movie festivals in the city and all year long you can enjoy the work of more than 100 dance and theatre companies that call Cartagena home.

Events in Baranquilla

If you’re looking for other types of events in Colombia, you may want to try the quieter and smaller city of Baranquilla. Here you won’t find large stadiums but you can find some great experiences. For example, you can go dancing at any of the city’s clubs, including Seven and Barullo. You can even enjoy the 80s retro styles of the Old Times bar. If you want something more unique, you can head to one of the so-called “estancos.” These locations are liquor establishments where you can find live music performed on the weekends. Of course, this city is one of the best places to go if you want to enjoy Carnival.

Tips for Events in Colombia

Remember that you should book your tickets to many of these events in advance, especially major concerts and sporting events. Make sure you have a good idea of where the event is located. Just knowing the name of the venue is usually enough if you are going to take a taxi but it’s a good idea to have some idea of where it is located in the city as well. Colombia is not a country you want to be wandering around alone in.
