Copa Federacion Tournament
Columbia snatched away ‘gold’ at the second cope federation tournament. Girls youth volleyball team from Columbia defeated Dominican Republic in the final round of the tournament. The tournament was held in Lima, Peru. On the final day of the tournament that was held on July 2nd, teams from Dominican Republic and Columbia contested their skills.
Team from Columbia came out to be much better and won in the five set thriller, scoring 3 - 2. Columbia won the gold and Dominican Republic had to be satisfied with the silver medal.
The Copa Fedaracion was organized by Peru National Volleyball Federation and most importantly, this tournament was part of its 70th anniversary celebrations. Someone who played a subservient role in Columbia’s victory is Maria Martinez. She exceeded all the scorers by achieving 25 points and the pair of Melissa Rangel and Diana Amechea recorded 16 and 17 points. Pamela Soriano put up a valorous attempt for her team Dominican Republic and contributed a total of 25 points. Her teammate Ceneida Gonzalez ended with achieving 14 points.
The final round was an ignited competition and Columbia grabbed the opening set with a mere gap of hardly two points before the Dominicans raised up the score in the second set. Dominican arrogated third set of the tournament but Colombia fought back and caught the next two sets in row that headed the team to success in this crucial match.
