English tourist places sees visitors spike
Travels to tourist spots throughout England were up by five percent year on year in 2013, as per a new research by VisitEngland. The Annual Attractions Survey of the local tourism authority found gross profit for the sphere was also up by five percent despite challenging economic conditions.
VisitEngland told that attractions that had invested in marketing as well as digital platforms managed to hike visitor numbers and also make more money. The number of tourist attractions extending a mobile application more than doubled to 18 percent, while few are still in function without a website.
Around twenty one percent offered an online booking facility, while social networking sites like Twitter and Facebook were increasingly used as marketing alternatives. VisitEnglands chief executive James Berresford told that attractions are core to Englands tourism offering. They are fortunate to have such a magnificent and wide variety of outdoor and indoor attractions to suit all their visitors.
He added that with a five percent increase in both visitor numbers as well as gross profit for past year, their attractions go on to contribute to the visitor economy as well as show potential for future development. It is clear that investment into the sector is very important and the profits are evident in the results for attractions continuously investing in both marketing and digital platforms.
The survey saw attraction owners who inducted in a digital communications program over and above just a website and online booking facility had raised gross profit by six percent.
